The Cao De Fila De Sao Miguel, also known as the Azores Cattle Dog has been around many years.  They were owned by all the farmers, either to guard their flocks or to herd the cattle, even as a companion.  This breed is not yet well known in North America, but interest is blooming and many are trying to become familiar with this remarkable breed. Many believe that the sole purpose of this breed is strictly work, but they are much more than that.  In some blood lines yes, you will find the more aggressive dog, which will make the perfect guard dog and also willing to work at your command, but in other bloodlines you will find the most docile dogs around,  early socialization is the key and proper training
